The quirky list is 100 items long with each one being worth a certain number of points depending on how awesome the stunt or find is; 40 of the items are material goods for the charities benefited. For example, you’ll probably find yourself inside a food truck. And perhaps you’ll find yourself on the strip. Or stripping. Or stripping on the strip.

We love when our LA hoods show off their goods, and the NoHo Arts Festival is no exception. Within one square mile, NoHo is home to a varied cooperative of artistic networks, from recording studios to gourmet restaurants. For Angelenos living around the NoHo area, it’s a way to find hidden neighborhood gems that may have been passed over on the way to happy hour.

Part art-walk, part festival, head to your favorite spots for discounts on food, retail and art…you name it, from DJs to DIY art booths. Known as a dance community, NoHo is celebrating with a freestyle dance battle in which festival goers can vote for their favorite movers.

Admission is free. Dignity lost during the dance battle will cost you dearly.

Multiple Venues, Santa Barbara

Unlike some of the more popular music festivals around town, New Noise uses the music conference and festival as a platform to host more than 100 artists and music industry speakers in an effort to create an environment that promotes education, collaboration and networking.

Don’t let the softer approach fool you, past performers have included Foo Fighters, Steve Miller Band and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. This year, among more than 50 participating artists, check out Deer Tick, Phantogram and Shiny Toy Guns.

Multiple Times & Locations

Los Angeles’ longest running international film festival marks the 25th edition as AFI FEST with 8 days of screenings and events at Hollywood’s renowned movie theaters. It all kicks off with a screening of Clint Eastwood and Leo DiCaprio’s J. Edgar and closes with The Adventures of Tintin.

Beginning in 2009, AFI FEST began offering free tickets to all of its screenings and with the support of Audi as a sponsor, it continues to do so. Get yours here. Additional tickets will be released the day before each screening.

Malibu

Competing in a 5 or 10k isn’t enough anymore. If you want to prove something to yourself or anyone else, you have to get dirty. It all started with mud and trail runs, but Spartan Race takes it to another level with insane obstacles and four separate levels of competitive racing.

Start with a race as simple as The Spartan Sprint and work your way up to The Spartan Death Race, where you’ll compete against elite athletes and military special ops. Either way, slogging through mud on all fours and charging through a gauntlet sounds like a lot more fun than a short run on city streets.

The next local Spartan Sprint takes place in Malibu on November 19th.

Over the next month, you’re going to see even more facial hair around LA than normal. Aside from their winter beards, men around the world will be grooming, trimming and waxing their way to a perfect moustache, all in the name of more than just style. Movember, which has a much greater purpose and following than Moustache March, raises funds and awareness for men’s health issues, primarily prostate cancer and other cancers that affect them.

Since 2003, Movember has raised a whopping $174M as part of it’s mission – Changing the Face of Men’s Health. Mo Bros, and the Mo Sistas that support them, total more than 1.1M and the number has been climbing steadily. The Movember madness culminates in Gala Partés where the best ‘staches compete for Man of Movember and other illustrious titles. LA’s will take place on December 1st at Avalon and tickets are available here for $20.
