Venice is a conundrum. It’s all locals and all tourists. And perhaps that’s the beauty of it—you’ll always fit in. Right where the tattoos meet the sea is where you’ll find Larry’s—under the infamous Venice sign. We are so glad it’s there, acting as a bridge between upscale and near and dear dives, Larry’s is our new legit lunching, happy hour-ing, and dining dig.

[10/13-16] Los Angeles Food & Wine, Multiple Times and Locations

These days, you don’t have to be an old buddy of Doc Brown just to travel through time for a couple stiff nightcaps. Citing it’s style as “parlor-plush,” just behind the elusive emerald entrance to which the Green Door owes its name lies a luxurious establishment that rapidly transports its tenants straight to 1930′s Paris; leaving room, of course, for the inflation necessary to maintain modern day Hollywood drink prices.

If you were to ask a Los Angeles outsider to envision the staples of a Hollywood lifestyle, the images they conjure would likely include partying poolside and fine dining in upscale establishments that pay tribute to Hollywood’s yesteryears. In a true best of both worlds scenario, Sunset Tower Hotel’s adjacent Terrace and Tower Bar offer patrons the chance to soak in all of the above.

Hidden in a Cahuenga strip mall in the middle of Hollywood, District 13 pairs brews with sausage, everything from brat to beef and lamb to elk. Whether you’re on your way to (or from…open til 2am) the Hollywood Bowl or just need a pork fix, this graffiti-walled little joint might be everything you’re looking for.

Inspired by middle school cafeterias (underage drinkers?), Public School 612 is focused on “An Education in the Art of Food and Beer.” Grab your pencils and pints, class is in session. So lately we’ve been hearing the word “gastropub” get thrown around a lot, but this place represents by offering craft beer from all round the world, eclectic small plates and nostalgic sodas.
