It’s 2011, but how many times a day does KROQ play the Smashing Pumpkins? And I mean old Smashing Pumpkins (although if there were anything new I wouldn’t necessarily know about it). Nevertheless, in such a world, when a new voice actually does break through, it’s nice to have it be something of substance. One example of this, is LA’s own Airborne Toxic Event.

Don’t Look Back is a compelling, behind-the-scenes glimpse inside Bob Dylan’s frenzied world during his three-week, six-city tour of England in the spring of 1965. The documentary takes place when the singer/songwriter was transitioning from acoustic to electric. Among the film’s highlights is the iconic “Subterranean Homesick Blues” cue cards clip, which many consider the first music video.

Over here in the UK, Charlie Sheen’s very public ranting sent Twitter into meltdown. History was being made in Egypt and Tunisia yet #Tigerblood kicked their ass on the trend lists. Meanwhile the British media went into a feeding frenzy.

No illustrious childhood career choice garners as much allure as being a rockstar. Not just a musician, but a rockstar. Being a doctor, lawyer, firefighter, etc., while lucrative and/or noble, just never sounded as sexy as traveling the world, performing music, getting with groupies, and general wilding out while of course, being paid buckets of [...]
